【摘要】:Thisguidecoverstheuseofradiation-sensitiveindicatorsinradiationprocessing.Theseindicatorsmaybelabels,papers,orinkswhichundergoacolorchangeorbecomecoloredwhenexposedtoionizingradiation.Thepurposeoftheseindicatorsistodeterminevisuallywhetherornotaproducthasbeenirradiated,ratherthantomeasuredifferentdoselevels.Suchmaterialsarenotdosimetersandshouldnotbeusedasasubstituteforproperdosimetry.InformationaboutdosimetrysystemsforionizingradiationisprovidedinotherASTMdocuments(seeGuideE1261).Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
