【摘要】:HDIismostlyusedinthepreparationofpaints.Forthelasttenyears,theuseofisocyanatesandtheirindustrialneedshavebeeninconstantgrowth.Diisocyanatesandpolyisocyanatesareirritantstoskin,eyes,andmucousmembranes.Theyarerecognizedtocauserespiratoryallergicsensitization,asthmaticbronchitis,andacuterespiratoryintoxication(3-6).TheAmericanConferenceofGovernmentalIndustrialHygienists(ACGIH)hasadoptedathresholdlimitvalue-timeweightedaverage(TLV-TWA)of0.005ppm(V)or0.034mg/m3formonomericHDI(7).TheOccupationalSafetyx0026;HealthAdministrationoftheU.S.DepartmentofLabor(OSHA)hasnotlistedapermissibleexposurelimit(PEL)forHDI(8).DuetoitslowLODandlowrequiredvolume(15L),thistestmethodiswellsuitedformonitoringofrespiratoryandotherproblemsrelatedtodiisocyanatesandpolyisocyanates.Itsshortsamplingtimesarecompatiblewiththedurationofmanyindustrialprocesses,anditslowdetectionlimitwiththeconcentrationsoftenfoundintheworkingarea.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofaerosolhexamethylenediisocyanate(HDI)inairsamplescollectedfromworkplaceandambientatmospheres.Themethoddescribedinthistestmethodcollectsseparatefractions.Onefractionwillbedominatedbyvapor,andtheotherfractionwillbedominatedbyaerosol.Itisnotknownatthepresenttimewhetherthisrepresentsaperfectseparationofvaporandaerosol,andinanycase,therearenotseparateexposurestandardsforvaporandaerosol.Therefore,incomparingtheresultsforisocyanateagainstastandard,resultsfromthetwofractionsshouldbecombinedtogiveasingletotalvalue.Thereasonforsplittingthesampleintotwofractionsistoincreaseanalyticsensitivityforthevaporfractionandalsotogivethehygienistorventilationengineersomeinformationconcerningthelikelystateoftheisocyanatespecies.Theanalysesofthetwofractionsaredifferent,andareprovidedinseparate,linked,standardstoavoidconfusion.Thistestmethodisprincipallyusedtodetermineshorttermexposure(15min)ofHDIinworkplaceenvironmentsforpersonalmonitoringorinambientair.Theanalysisofthevaporfractionisperformedseparately,asdescribedinTestMethodD6562.1.2Differentialairsamplingisperformedwithasegregatingdevice.Theaerosolfractioniscollectedonapolytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)filter.1.3Immediatelyaftersampling,thePTFEfilteristransferredintoajarcontaininga(methoxy-2phenyl-1)piperazine(MOPIP)solutionintoluene.1.4Theanalysisoftheaerosolfractionisperformedbyusingahighperformanceliquidchromatograph(HPLC)equippedwithanultraviolet(UV)detector.Therangeofapplicationofthetestmethodhasbeenvalidatedfrom0.052to1.04gofmonomericHDI/mL,whichcorresponds,basedona15Lairsample,toconcentrationsfrom0.004to0.070mg/m3ofHDI.Thoseconcentrationscorrespondtoarangeofaerosolphaseconcentrationsfrom0.5ppb(V)to10ppb(V)andcovertheestablishedthresholdlimitvalve(TLV)valueof5ppb(V).1.5ThequantificationlimitforthemonomericHDIis0.041gpermL,whichcorrespondsto0.003mg/m3fora15Lsampledairvolume.ThisvalueisequivalenttotentimesthestandarddeviationobtainedfromtenmeasurementscarriedoutonastandardsolutionincontactwiththePTFEfilterwhoseconcentrationof0.1g/mLisclosetotheexpecteddetectionlimit.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesaf......
